School Ready
An 8-week OT-guided parent education program for families with children aged 4–6
Starting school asks a lot of little bodies. Listening in a group. Managing a lunchbox. Coping when the plan changes. Getting through the day without you.
This program gives you the occupational therapy knowledge, practical strategies and everyday activities to support your child's confidence, independence and participation — at home, in your own time, in the moments you already have.
Popular
Somewhere between "we're fine" and "we need weekly therapy"
A lot of families sit in the middle, thinking things like:
I'm not sure if my child is actually ready for school.
I can see they're finding this hard, but I don't understand why.
I want to help — I just don't know where to start.
I don't think we need weekly appointments. I think I need some guidance.
I'd rather have practical strategies than another assessment.
There isn't usually much on offer in that middle space. You either book in for ongoing individual therapy, or you go it alone with whatever you can find online.
School Ready, Parent Ready was built for that middle space.
School readiness is about more than ABCs
Most parents assume school readiness is about letters, numbers and writing their name. Those matter — but they're rarely what makes a child's first year hard.
What a school day actually asks of a five-year-old looks more like this:
Getting through the day
Following instructions with no one repeating them
Sitting and attending in a group
Moving between activities when the bell goes
Coping when something unexpected happens
Asking an adult for help
Doing it themselves
Managing a lunchbox, hat, bag and drink bottle
Going to the toilet independently
Getting shoes and jumpers on and off
Using scissors, glue and pencils
Joining in, taking turns and waiting
These are occupational therapy territory — and they're all skills that can be practised at home, through play and movement, without it feeling like work.
How the 8 weeks works
Each week you get a short piece of parent education — what the skill is, why it matters for school, and what you can actually do about it — plus a handful of play and movement activities to try in everyday moments.
You don't have to do all of them. Choose what suits your child and your week.
Week 0 — Getting started You complete a short starting-point questionnaire, then we have a 30-minute conversation to talk through your child's strengths, what's tricky right now, and the two or three things you most want to focus on.
Week 1 — Movement and body awareness Building motor confidence, balance and coordination through obstacle courses, climbing and movement play.
Week 2 — Regulation and body cues Helping your child notice what's happening in their body, and helping you respond to it.
Week 3 — Listening, attention and following instructions Practising listening and multi-step instructions through movement games instead of worksheets.
Week 4 — Social participation Turn-taking, waiting, sharing space and joining in alongside other children. Plus: your progress check-in form and a 15-minute check-in with Taylah.
Week 5 — Fine motor and classroom skills Hand strength, scissors, pencil control and the two-handed coordination classroom tasks rely on.
Week 6 — Independence and everyday routines Dressing, shoes, socks, belongings, toileting independence and the self-care side of a school day.
Week 7 — Transitions, flexibility and problem-solving Playful ways to practise stopping, switching, coping with change and having a go at something new.
Week 8 — Bringing it all together Looking back at what's changed, what worked, and what's worth carrying into the school year. Plus: your final progress form and a 15-minute check-in with Taylah.

Is this the right fit for your family?
This is likely a good fit if:
Your child is 4–6 and preparing for or starting school
You've noticed a few areas you'd like to support
You want practical strategies you can use at home
You're comfortable trying activities independently
You'd like professional guidance without committing to ongoing appointments
You can give it eight weeks
You may need something different if:
Your child needs individual assessment or hands-on therapy
You're looking for a formal report or school funding documentation
Your child is already working with a therapy team on the same goals
Right now, a program you run yourself at home isn't realistic for your family
Not sure which side you're on? Say so in your enquiry and we'll work it out together. If this isn't the right fit, I'll tell you — and point you toward what is.
What this program is and isn’t
Ready, Set, Grow! is a parent education program. You are the one putting the strategies into practice with your child, with occupational therapy guidance behind you.
It is not individual occupational therapy for your child. It doesn't include assessment, a therapy plan written for your child, hands-on sessions, or reports.
It isn't a cheaper version of therapy. It's a different thing entirely, professional knowledge, handed to the person who knows your child best.
If, during the program, it becomes clear your child would benefit from individual OT support, I'll tell you and we'll talk about options.
Your occupational therapist
Hi, I'm Taylah.
I'm an occupational therapist registered with AHPRA, and the founder of Sprout & Co Therapies. I've spent the past four years working in community paediatrics here on the Gold Coast — in homes, kindys, schools, parks and backyards, alongside families much like yours.
Something I've noticed over and over: the change that lasts doesn't usually happen in the therapy hour. It happens in the hundreds of small moments in between — the ones you're already having, at the dinner table, in the car, on the way to the park.
Parents are the ones in those moments. So this program puts the OT knowledge where it's most useful: with you.
"You know your child best. My role is to give you the OT knowledge and tools to feel confident putting that into practice at home."
Founding family price
$395
for the full 8-week program (incl. GST)
Pay in full, or in two payments of $197.50 — Payments due at the first at enrolment and the second before commencing Week 4.
Why "founding family"? This is the first time this program is running. The five founding families get the full program at an introductory rate, and in return I'll be asking for honest feedback along the way — what worked, what didn't, what you'd change. That feedback shapes the version every family after you receives.
Terms: The $395 founding family rate applies to the cohort starting 12 October 2026 and is limited to 5 places. Future cohorts will be priced higher. Payment is required before program access is provided. Full terms are set out in your enrolment email.
Ready, Set, Grow Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. This is education and coaching for you, the parent. Individual OT involves assessing your child, setting goals specific to them and working directly with them. This program gives you general OT knowledge and practical strategies to use at home. Both are useful, they're just different things.
-
Often yes, and plenty of families find it complements what they're already doing. Mention it in your enquiry so we can check it won't cut across your child's existing goals.
-
This program is currently offered as a private-pay parent education program, and I'm not claiming it as an NDIS-funded service for this pilot. If you have NDIS funding and want to explore whether something like this could be funded, please check with your plan manager or support coordinator, as the rules change and every plan is different.
-
Then I'll tell you. Part of my role in the check-ins is being honest about whether what you're doing is enough, and flagging it if I think individual assessment or therapy would serve your child better.
-
Because you receive the full program content as soon as you enrol, the fee isn't refundable once access has been provided. If you're unsure whether the program is right for you, please ask before you enrol, I'd much rather have that conversation up front.
-
Yes. Access is per family, so partners, grandparents or anyone else supporting your child is welcome to use it.
-
The content is pitched at 4–6 year olds preparing for or starting school. If your child is just outside that, get in touch and we'll have a look at whether it'd be suitable for them.
-
Reading the weekly content & watching the videos takes about 10–15 minutes. The activities are designed to slot into what you're already doing rather than add to the list. Some families do a little most days; others do one activity a week. Both are fine. However, I would recommend 10-30 minutes a day will support the most development.
-
Nothing locks or expires during the program. Skip a week, double up, or come back to it. The content is yours for the full eight weeks.
-
No. The activities use what's already in most homes: cushions, tape, paper, scissors, a backyard or a park.
-
These will be completed via google meet. You will be sent a link to the appointment meeting via email in the days leading up.
Eight weeks. Five families. Starting 12 th of October.
Prep starts late January 2027. These eight weeks are about walking in feeling more confident for you and your child both.
Tell me a little about your child and I'll be in touch within two business days to talk through whether this is the right fit.

Cancellation & Check in Policy
24 hours’ notice for program check-ins
Your Week 0, Week 4 and Week 8 check-ins are included in your program fee. If you need to cancel or move one, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice where you possibly can.
Every family has one free reschedule across the eight weeks — no notice required and no questions asked.
-
This policy applies only to the School Ready, Parent Ready program - your Week 0 parent intake and your Week 4 and Week 8 check-ins.
It is separate from our standard clinical cancellation policy, which applies to individual occupational therapy appointments. Because your program check-ins are short, included in a fee you have already paid, and involve no travel or clinical preparation on our side, the notice period here is shorter and more flexible than our clinical policy. There is nothing to pay if you miss one.
-
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. You can do this by replying to any email from Taylah, or by using the link in your booking confirmation.
Examples:
Check in at 10:00am Wednesday = cancel before 10:00am Tuesday
Check in at 9:00am Monday = cancel before 9:00am Sunday
Check in at 2:00pm Thursday = cancel before 2:00pm Wednesday
If something comes up inside 24 hours, tell us anyway. Life with a four-year-old does not run to a schedule, and we would much rather know than sit waiting.
-
Every proposal is anchored in empirical evidence.
-
Every family gets one free reschedule across the whole program. Use it for whatever you like — a sick child, a bad morning, a day that simply got away from you. No notice needed and no explanation required.
Once you have used it, any further changes to a check-in are subject to the additional session fee below.
-
Your check-in is 15 minutes long, so we cannot run much over. Here is what happens:
We will wait for you for 10 minutes.
If you arrive within that window, we will use whatever time is left.
If more than 10 minutes have passed, there is not enough time remaining to make the conversation worthwhile, so we will stop and rebook instead.
A check-in that cannot run because of a late start uses your free reschedule if you still have it. If you have already used it, the additional session fee applies.
-
If you do not attend a check-in and we have not heard from you, that check-in uses your free reschedule. If you have already used it, the check-in is not carried forward, and you are welcome to book an additional session at the fee below.
No part of your program fee is forfeited if you miss a check-in. Your access to the program site, the weekly content and email support with Taylah all continue exactly as normal.
-
Additional 15-minute check-in — $50
You are welcome to book extra check-ins (15 minutes) at any point during the program at $50 each, payable in advance. This is also the fee that applies once your free reschedule has been used.
These sessions are parent education and coaching. They are not individual occupational therapy for your child, and they are not claimable as an NDIS-funded or Medicare service.
-
Your program fee covers eight weeks of access, the weekly content and resources, your Week 0 intake, your Week 4 and Week 8 check-ins, and email support with Taylah throughout.
Because the full program content is provided the moment your access is sent, the fee is not refundable once access has been granted. If you are unsure whether the program is the right fit for your family, please ask before you enrol, we would far rather have that conversation up front than have you discover it in Week 3.
-
If something significant happens during the eight weeks — illness, a family emergency, anything that makes continuing unrealistic - please get in touch. We will find a sensible way through it. This policy exists to keep things clear and fair, not to be applied rigidly to families having a hard time.
